Women's Surf and Yoga Retreats are adapted for excited beginners and also the experienced surfer who wants to push their surfing to another level. Using the support of the group and the yoga will help you achieve your goals and most importantly peace of mind, both in and out of the water.

Location

Retreats are held on the NSW South Coast at Broulee and QLD's Sunshine Coast at Caloundra.

Broulee New South Wales: Where the Australian bush truly meets the ocean, Broulee is a relaxed coastal surf village in the south coast of NSW famous for great waves and the amazing geography of the Great Dividing Range. The surf is mostly sand bottom beaches with some of the best learn to surf waves you could ever find. For the more experienced surfers you have a selection of beaches, reefs, two long breaking rivermouths and a breakwall within a 10 km radius.

Caloundra Queensland: With the best climate you can imagine for a surf destination in Australia, the Sunshine Coast is an obvious choice for a late or early season surf trip! Moffat Beach is a surprisingly relaxed corner of this coastline popular with surfers for the great waves and the chilled out coastal atmosphere. The surf is easy beachbreaks with some of the best learn to surf waves on the coast. For the more experienced surfers you have a selection of beaches facing different directions, and a long point break over reef.

All Welcome To Attend

Women's retreats are open to all levels of ability from absolute beginner to advanced. Student numbers are limited to 12 so you are guaranteed personal attention. There are at least 2 yoga and 2 surf instructors available to you to share their knowledge and experiences.

  • 6.30am-8am Yoga class
  • 8.30am Light breakfast
  • 9-11am Surfing lesson
  • 12-3pm Lunch and free time
  • 3-5pm Afternoon surf session
  • 6-7pm Dinner and discussion/ surf tutorial
  • 8-9pm Evening meditation

Surfing

In conjunction with Broulee Surf School, you will receive personal attention from Belinda Wehner, qualified Level 1 surf Instructor with over 10 years international coaching experience. There will be another level 1 surf instructor if the group exceeds 6 in the water or if clients require private tuition to suit their ability and the conditions. All coaches are qualified lifeguards with advanced resuscitation and first aid. Let us know if you would like to bring your own equipment, otherwise we supply you with a top of the range soft mini Malibu and optional full wetsuit for your protection.

Our Surf and Yoga retreats are adapted for excited beginners taking the plunge for the first time and also the experienced surfer who wants specialised instruction to push their surfing to another level. Our main focus is gaining water time, learning about a variety of new breaks and using the support of the group and the yoga to help you achieve a new level of confidence in the ocean!

Yoga

The yoga will consist of morning yoga classes and evening meditation sessions lead by Elena Rabuda from Broulee Wellness Clinic, and assisted by Belinda. She is also learning to surf and is very excited about using her knowledge of yoga to complement the journey of learning to surf. On this retreat our focus will be on building strength and stamina to help you surf better and longer. This is primarily through a Fluid Vinyasa sequence especially designed for women and for surfing. This Unique yoga style will also be combined with gentle stretching and meditation exercises allowing you to relax each day and assimilate the excitement of a day at the beach. And don’t worry the yoga is adapted to accommodate both complete beginners and experienced yoginis so you will be completely supported to progress at your own level over the 3 days.

Accommodation

Broulee: Our private accommodation is 20 minutes from Batemans Bay, situated on the beachfront.

Caloundra: Our accommodation is at Raintree's resort, 1 hour from Brisbane, situated 100m from the beachfront at Moffat Beach.

Both of these private location provides fully self-contained holiday apartments, each with a twin share and double room and a shared bathroom with an upstairs entertainment area and outside deck. Experience being woken by the sound of waves crashing on the beach, and then paddle out into this stunning vista after enjoying the group morning yoga in our private yoga studio and deck, all followed up with a delicious breakfast!

Meals

During the retreat we encourage guests to enjoy a healthy life-style vegetarian diet supplemented with local fresh fish. We aim to use the freshest produce focusing on using wholefoods and seasonal fruits and vegetables. You will receive fresh juices, fruit and sour-dough toast for breakfast, a full gourmet buffet lunch and dinner as well as fruit and nuts throughout the day.

We will allow you to see how exciting and delicious vegetarian food can be and expereince first-hand how healthy eating enhances your energy and enthusiasm following the day's activities. Often the meals are a highlight on retreat and provide the motivation for a healthier eating program once you return to your daily life.

Travel

You will need to arrange your own international and domestic flights.

Broulee: If you are flying internationally we advise to fly into Sydney and then organise a domestic flight to Moruya with Regional Express. If flying with regional express to Moruya from Sydney or Melbourne we will arrange a 10 minute shuttle to your accommodation. Alternatively you can fly to Canberra and then hire a car for a beautiful 2 hour drive to the coast. If you are driving, Broulee is 4 hours south of Sydney, 2 hours from Canberra or 9 hours north of Melbourne.

Caloundra: You will need to arrange your own international and domestic flights. If you are flying we advise you to fly into Brisbane and then organise a shuttle bus to Caloundra
If you are driving, Caloundra is 1 hour North of Brisbane at the southern end of Queenslands beautiful Sunshine Coast. The Raintree's Resort is located on Bryce St Moffat Beach, Caloundra.
