In addition to your surf and yoga program we will explore the estuarine ecology of the magical Tomaga River, learn about the local native wildlife on an evening Spotlighting Tour and take a short Nature Walk to admire the 180-degree views of the coastline the unique coastal environment of Burewarra Point.

All Welcome to Attend

The retreat is open to men and women of all levels from absolute beginner to advanced in any of the activities. We also encourage all ages and various levels of fitness as care and attention is taken to develop a program specific to each participants needs. Student numbers are limited to 6 per instructor so you are guaranteed personal attention. There are at least 2 surf instructors available to you to share their knowledge and experiences. We aim to get you fit and motivated and ignite your sense of adventure while appreciating the nature of the South Coast.

In conjunction with Broulee Surf School, you will receive personal attention from Belinda Wehner, qualified Level 1 surf Instructor with over 10 years international coaching experience. There will be another level 1 surf instructor if the group exceeds 8 in the water or if clients require private tuition to suit their ability and the conditions. All coaches are qualified lifeguards with advanced resuscitation and first aid. Our Surf and Yoga Eco Adventure Retreats are adapted for excited beginners taking the plunge for the first time and also the experienced surfer who wants specialised instruction to push their surfing to another level.

Our main focus is gaining water time, learning about a variety of new breaks and using the support of the group and the yoga to help you achieve a new level of confidence in the ocean! The surf is mostly sand bottom beaches with some of the best learn to surf waves you could ever find. For the more experienced surfers you have a selection of beaches, reefs, two long breaking river mouths and a break wall within a 10 km radius. Let us know if you would like to bring your own equipment, otherwise we supply you with a top of the range soft mini Malibu and optional full wetsuit for your protection.

Start your day greeting the sunrise in our beachfront yoga studio with views of the ocean. The yoga will consist of morning yoga classes and an evening meditation session lead by Belinda Wehner of Broulee Surf School. Belinda's passion for yoga and leading groups through complementary asana and meditation practice while working as a surf guide in Costa Rica, inspired her to study with Yoga Arts in Byron Bay to become a qualified Vinyasa Flow Yoga teacher. She has attended regular Chakra and Alchemic Yoga workshops for the last 7 years on the NSW Mid North Coast and also recently completed Shiva Rea's "Embodying the Flow" and "Energetic alignment" teacher training modules with Twee Merrigan. In late 2009 she will begin her level 2 Yoga Therapy Teacher training with Body Mind Life Studio and continues to receive inspiration from a broad range of yoga styles and teachers.

Belinda believes a regular yoga practice is essential for any surfer's ongoing body "maintenance" and enables you to surf longer and develop strength and flexibility as a surfer - especially when first starting out. She believes Yoga is also an amazing way to gain focus in your life and improve overall health and wellbeing. She is very excited about this opportunity to allow people to experience her two greatest passions together - yoga and surfing!

On this retreat our focus will be on building strength and stamina to help you surf better and longer. This is primarily through a Fluid Vinyasa sequence especially designed for surfing. This dynamic yoga will also be combined with gentle stretching and meditation exercises allowing you to relax each day and assimilate the excitement of a day of surfing perfect waves. And don't worry the yoga is adapted to accommodate both complete beginners and experienced yogis or yoginis so you will be completely supported over the 3 days.

Bushwalking and Nature Tours

We allow you experience the scenery of the beautiful Burrewarra Point and the nocturnal wildlife in the nearby coastal forests with your Ecologist and Guide Doctor David Bain from Ecological Australia. On an Eco tour you may expect to see nocturnal fauna such as the threatened Yellow-Bellied Glyder or the Powerful Owl, Brush-tailed Possums, and Micro -Bats. On our bushwalk Swamp Wallabies, Echidnas, Goannas are often sighted and a variety of birdlife such as yellow-tailed black-cockatoos or honey-eaters in the Eucalypt and Banksia forests.

The 2-hour Kayak session with Fluid Adventures involves sit-on kayaks in a flat-water estuary where you will experience the absolute tranquillity of some of the cleanest waterways in the world. Learn about the mangrove ecology and local bird-life while also experiencing how to keep fit for surfing with one of the best strengthening techniques available!
